All-Star Pizza Party

We are finally having the year-end All-Star party at Pepperoni' Pizza on Sunday August 3rd at 11:30am
Please come out and join us for food and fun. We will be sharing the event with the 9-10 All-Stars which many of our girls played together with all season.
Coach Victor and I thought it would be fun to bring all of Loara softball together one last time.
This may be the last time some of the girls see each other for a while, so we hope to see everyone there...

GAME 3 vs Metro Pioneer

Game 3 started off promising as it was a tight game through 4 innings. Metro had their 3rd string pitcher throwing, but we were unable to generate enough runs to take a lead. The story of this All-Star season is going to be how the girls had to overcome alot of obstacles and battle poor umpiring, slumping bats, and slow starts to games. The final score was 7-4 and we were eliminated from the All-Star tournament. Overall, I liked our effort in the final game, but we just couldn't catch any breaks.
Good Luck to all of the Loara players who will not be returning next year. Thanks for the memories!

Game 2 vs Hawaiian Gardens

Wow...is the best way I can describe how this game went. We lost the coin-toss and settled into the visitor dugout. Spirits were high and there was a feeling of impending victory in the air. Taylah was scheduled to start the game. She did her job of getting the hitters out, and getting them to ground out with the exception of some well hit balls by the opposition. As the innings progressed the top of our line-up was giving us nothing, and often we left baserunners stranded in frustration. After the 4th inning we made the pitching switch to Marissa and hoped our bats would come alive. The score was 8-3 and things were not looking up, as we made some silly errors throwing the ball around and the inconsistent and often ludicrous umpiring was bringing us down. The only runs we scored up till then were 3 solo home runs by Brittni. In the top of the 6th inning, we finally mounted our rally. The entire lineup stepped up and began hitting and getting on base. Some key steals and aggressive baserunning also helped us get back into the game. We tied the game up in the final inning and were able to hold them to force extra innings. The top of the 7th came and we were able to continue our rally and push across 2 more runs and take the lead. We then tried to make a pitching change and bring in Kiersti to close. The league director pointed out a tournament rule that said she would be ineligible to pitch the following consecutive game. That meant we had to bring Marissa back in to shut the door. She came in and closed it out, and we managed a comeback victory.
Good Job Girls!

Game 1 vs Metro Pioneer

Well, Game 1 was a bit of a disappointment as we were unable to scratch across a single run as we lost 10-0. The pitching performance of Metro's starting pitcher, "clutch" had the girls shaking their heads as Loara was only able to get two hits. A bad start to the game by Loara set the tone as Metro was able to score 5 runs in that first inning. Our girls were able to settle in and only allow 4 more runs in 4 innings, but our bats were quiet and thus we couldn't answer back. Hopefully we get another crack at Metro later in the tournament. I strongly believe our girls will put up a better effort.

Team Dinner July 9th

After our practice on Wednesday, we had our team dinner at Mama Cozza's.
The girls "carb-loaded" on some pasta and garlic bread.
We were able to pass out our All-Star pins and the coaches finalized their line-ups.
